Paper Plate Poppies

With Remembrance Day and its significance in mind, we bring you a creative and engaging activity that serves as a hands-on crafting project and a heartfelt gesture of honour. This blog post will guide you through creating beautiful paper plate poppies using our free printables. These poppies are not only a visual representation of remembrance but also an opportunity to engage kids in a thoughtful activity that commemorates the sacrifices made by our brave heroes.

Materials Needed:

  1. Paper plates
  2. Red paint
  3. Paintbrushes
  4. Scissors
  5. Glue or adhesive tape
  6. Free printable poppy designs (downloadable from our website)

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Prepare the Paper Plates

Start by cutting the paper plates into a poppy flower shape. Cut the plate into four wavy lobes to achieve the iconic poppy silhouette, leaving a small, circular centre intact. This centre will serve as the base for attaching the printables.

Step 2: Paint the Poppies

Using red paint and paintbrushes, paint the paper plate poppies.

Step 3: Add the Printables

Once the paint has dried, it’s time to add the special touch – our free printables. Download and print the poppy designs from our website. Cut out the circular printable with the poppy’s centre design and attach it to the small circular base at the centre of the paper plate using glue or adhesive tape. This step beautifully encapsulates the essence of the poppy flower.

Step 4: Reflect and Share

As you and your child create these paper plate poppies, you can discuss the significance of Remembrance Day and the heroes it honours. Use this time to share stories, discuss history, and reflect on the sacrifices made by servicemen and women.

Crafting paper plate poppies with our free printables is a wonderful way to engage kids in an educational and meaningful activity. Through creativity and conversation, we can help children understand and appreciate the importance of Remembrance Day while fostering their artistic talents. These poppies represent gratitude, love, and remembrance – a heartfelt tribute to the brave individuals who have served our nation.
